Experimentation- Glow in the dark and UV

May 24, 2010

Experimentation.

Firstly with the glow in the dark spray paint. Shows up nicely, very bright! but it doesn’t dry clear. So I am going to use it inside the velcro page.

Secondly is the UV paint. This doesn’t work as well, it only shows up orange after you have shined the light onto it for literally a second. Going to try it again onto better quality card.

Embossing

May 23, 2010

Embossing the H stencil, hopefully to use as the front cover of my book.

Started off practicing with just white card and then I tried it with the leather paper that I wanted to use. It kept creasing quite a bit, so I wet the paper and then rolled it dryer on the blotting paper. Creasing still kept occuring though but I managed to smooth some of them out afterwards. Also tried embossing on just plain black paper too.

Half way assessment

May 21, 2010

Thursday’s half way assessment was a great chance to view others work and to get a reality check and various feedback ourselves. Some of the other work that I saw was really inspiring and great to see the avenues that others are travelling down.

On my feedback, someone (I think I know who), said to stop researching and start creating. I think I needed to be told this, as even though our research should continue, now is the time to put more emphasis on the creating side.

The gut reaction I received from the tutors was a merit plus, so I was pleased that my project was understood and clearly going in the right direction.

Interesting books

May 17, 2010

I have just picked out some other books from my files that I haven’t posted up yet. I chose to save these ones from the numerous books that I have seen due to a few different reasons; they are interesting, unique, the material selection, the interesting fold or the size of the book. The third image from the bottom even has a secret compartment, nice.

Inspire me Papers

Swatch book from Inspire Me Papers. Full of very beautiful materials, which has been very handy in decision making for the materials to be included in my book.
